Story

They left their trademark

The seal on the 108 Demon Stars of Hades' Specters was released in the year 1990. The soul and Surplice of the Dullahan Specter sought out Cube and transformed him into one of Hades' warriors. He soon travelled to Hades' Castle and joined his fellow Specters to wait for Hades real awakening. Though the god's spirit was still active, and offered to revive several of Athena's dead Gold Saints if they took the goddess' life. The Saints accepted and sortied for Athena's Sanctuary, yet everyone was not happy with the decision. Wyvern Rhadamanthys did not trust the Saints and tried to convince Pandora to send him in their stead, but she declined his suggestion. He therefore ordered his subordinate Frog Zelos to send about a dozen of Specters to the Sanctuary to keep tabs on the revived Saints and take Athena's life if the Saints did not. Zelos chose Cube to be one among the Specter squad.[1]

Saga in disguise

The Specters made their way into the Sanctuary without being detected due to that other revived Saints were acting as decoys. Though the revived Gold Saints got hold up at the Aries Temple, they soon made their way to the Taurus Temple. Cube and the Specters had however gotten there first, so Deep Niobe decided to remain and defeat Taurus Aldebaran so that the revived Saints could pass through unhindered. Cube and the others continued to follow the revived Saints Gemini Saga, Aquarius Camus, Capricorn Shura unhindered until they reached the Cancer Temple. Saga, Shura and Camus were subjected to illusions by Virgo Shaka whom eventually engaged in a long distance battle since Shaka was in the Virgo Temple. But after Saga and Shaka clashed with long distance attacks they suddenly disappeared among the grand bursts of Cosmo. Unbeknownst to the Specters, Saga, Shura and Camus had sneaked up behind them in the confusion. Cube was killed in an instant by Saga, as was Elf Mills by Camus and Gorgon Ochs by Shura. The Saints stripped the Specters of their Surplices and wore them as disguises. Cube and the others' bodies came to lay there until found by a passing through Aries Mu.[2]

Concept & Creation

The more the merrier

Cube was created by Masami Kurumada for the classic Saint Seiya series. Cube's story is unchanged in the anime adaptation except that his and the other bodies are discovered by the four Bronze Saints Pegasus Seiya, Cygnus Hyoga, Dragon Shiryu and Andromeda Shun instead of Aries Mu.[3][2]

Special Techniques

None of Cube's techniques are seen in the original manga, but Death Messenger is shown in The Lost Canvas
